The hardest problem in computer science isn't cache invalidation or naming things. It's convincing yourself that the name you picked three months ago is still fine and doesn't need to be changed in a 47-file refactor.


SQLite appreciation post

December 2025

Every time I reach for Postgres out of habit and then realize SQLite would have been fine, I lose a small amount of self-respect. WAL mode, json_extract(), and the fact that the entire database is one file you can scp to your laptop. What more do you need.


The VPS sweet spot

November 2025

$6/month gets you 1GB of RAM, a public IPv4 address, and the ability to run anything you want without asking permission. This is the most underappreciated deal in computing. Every developer should have a personal VPS that they treat like a workshop — deploy weird things, break stuff, learn from the wreckage.
